This bridge features a continuous through truss that assumes as deck truss configuration at the ends, a design used several times in Alabama. This particular bridge is noted for its lack of alteration. The Kansas City Bridge Company of Kansas City, Missouri reportedly built the piers and approaches for the bridge. The main continuous truss was built by the American Bridge Company.
John Snodgrass was a Jackson County resident who became Captain of Company B, 2nd Confederate Infantry Regiment during the Civil War.
