At first glance this just seems like a modern steel beam
bridge that has been closed for some odd reason. However, as one looks though
the dirt covering the top of the deck, and begins to see that the deck is
actually wooden, it becomes clear that this is not an ordinary bridge. An
inspection under the bridge reveals very old steel beams, and even better, stone
abutments, which are uncommon in Michigan. The original railings (most likely
lattice) have been replaced with modern Armco guardrails, but otherwise, this is a
interesting example of a old beam bridge.
