This bridge was a good example of a mid-20th century standard plan steel stringer bridge in Michigan. It featured period railings that had not been altered in any way. With both a slighter older than average 1949 construction date and excellent structural condition, it was one of the better examples of this bridge type in the northern thumb area. The bridge had replaced a beautiful ca. 1922 concrete curved chord through girder (concrete camelback) bridge.
