This is a rare example of a timber truss railway bridge. It was built originally by the Pacific Great Eastern Railway. Pierre Morin provided the following information: This railway used to be owned by the provincial government and named Pacific Great Eastern when the bridge was built. It was renamed British Columbia Railway, then BC Rail. In 2004 it was leased to CN for 60 - 90 years. Technically the track, land, and bridges are still owned by the provincial government and CN is supposed to return it to the government in the same condition as when they got it. When I started work at the British Columbia Railway in 1980, the first bridge drawing I did related to this bridge. The approach trestles were found to be slowly moving out of line due to the clay fills moving or settling. We had our surveyors set movement hubs at several locations on and near the bridge and every month or so they took shots on the hubs and it was my job to graph them. That continued for about 6 months. I don't recall if any repairs had to be done.
