Bridge Documentation

Built in 1961, this steel through arch bridge is certainly not an early example of its type. However, it remains noteworthy as bridges of this type of any age are uncommon, and this example has some unusual details. Most noteworthy is that this wide bridge includes a third arch rib that runs down the middle of the roadway, separating the two directions of traffic. Also unusual is the overhead bracing which is composed of rolled angle that is mostly welded but in some areas is also riveted. Original standard plan ornamental railings remain on the bridge's cantilevered sidewalks.

Several contractors are listed on the bridge plaque including Vancouver Pile Driving and Contracting Company, Dominion Bridge Company, and D. J. Manning Construction.
