This bridge carries a pedestrian walkway (which was closed when HistoricBridges.org documented the bridge) under a road in historic Golden Gate Park. The road the bridge (actually called a tunnel in the Historic District Nomination) is known by many names depending on what source you refer to, but is referred to in the nomination materials of Main Drive. The exact construction date is not known for this bridge, but a ca. 1894 date was found in the nomination materials. There apparently was a suspension bridge in this vicinity prior to the construction of this bridge. The bridge is, like a couple other bridges in the park, constructed of concrete and is among the oldest surviving concrete bridges in the country. The bridge has architectural details designed to make the concrete bridge look like a stone arch bridge.
