The bridge was designed by architect Arthur Page Brown.
This bridge is an unusual bridge and is appropriately named the "Rustic Stone Bridge" in the Golden Gate Historic District Nomination Form. Much of the stone, particularly that found on the spandrel walls and the railing is large bulky stone and likely is of a decorative nature. There may be concrete behind much of this stone holding everything in place. It is unclear if it plays a structural role or if concrete is hidden behind providing a structural role, but the ring of the arch is composed of a more organized structure of cut stone, and it includes a larger keystone at the center. The barrel of the arch has red brick, and this does appear to play a structural role. An 1893 date stone is found in the spandrel wall, indicating when the bridge was built. The contractor for the bridge is not known.
