This bridge goes over what was the original Augusta Creek, which was bypassed by the canal. Not much flows here anymore, it is more of a backup area for water. This bridge is nearly identical to the M-96 Augusta Creek Canal Bridge, but lacks the support in the middle, and is shorter. This bridge has had the misfortune of having Armco railings plastered on front of it. Most people that drive by never even know that the bridge is old, save for the 65 ton weight limit posted. Michigan has the ridiculously high official unposted weight limit of 77 tons, where some other states are often satisfied with a 40 ton weight limit. That is why a 65 ton weight limit had to be posted. In another state, like Indiana, no posting would be needed.
