Bridge Documentation

This modern, non-historic swing bridge is only included on this website because, aside from the use of bolts instead of rivets, otherwise appears to replicate the 1898 bridge it replaced fairly closely. This does not excuse the demolition and replacement of historic bridges, but the bridge still managed to offer some interpretive value as to the bridge it replaced, given its similar overall appearance. Also notable, the bridge does not wrongly claim to be historic, although it contains a portal bracing plaque that looks old, it has a 1984 date on it. The bridge continues to operate for boats as well. Its also somewhat novel as it may be one of the only modern bridges built using pin connections.

The listed builder and engineers refer to the original 1898 bridge.

The bridge has been repainted green as of December 2021.

Main span length is an estimate, since National Bridge Inventory span lengths for swing bridges are often reported incorrectly. Swing spans are measured from end to end, but the NBI sometimes measures from one end to the swing pier, although this seems like a "span" it is not how swing spans were historically measured.
