This is one of the only known surviving examples of a Whipple deck truss in the country. The railing on one side has been replaced, but an (original?) railing survives on the other side. The design of the lattice and the decorative flowers on this railing strongly resemble railing found on other 1880s Boston Bridge Works bridges. If the railing is original it strongly suggests this bridge was built by the Boston Bridge Works. The bridge features two approach spans, one a pin-connected Pratt deck truss, and the other a rivet connected Warren deck truss. It is not known if all these spans are original. However, if Boston Bridge Works did indeed build this bridge, the riveted Warren deck truss span is not as surprising as this company built some of the earliest rivet connected trusses in the country.
This bridge was closed and abandoned ca. 1985.
