This is a traditional example of a rivet-connected and state-designed pony truss bridge. This historic bridge has always been here, but as the surrounding area composed of old historic mills is being converted into the Auburn Heights Preserve, a heritage-oriented state park, this bridge is taking on added significance as a contributing element to the heritage that the Auburn Heights Preserve will invite people to experience. The Auburn Heights Preserve plans to relocate and preserve historic bridges onto the trails being developed, and so this bridge becomes part of a new group of historic bridges in the area just by virtue of staying right here.
This bridge retains good historic integrity. Very unusual steel mill brands reading simply "PX" are found on the bridge.
