This bridge has been included as a representative example of a mid 20th century bridge in Florida. Further, it is a somewhat early example of prestressed concrete construction. It is mainly being included here as it features tube and parapet railings that are strikingly similar to a design that was popular in Michigan from 1963 onward, yet this example dates to 1957. The snowbird phenomenon is not a new thing, and its possible there was some sort of exchange of ideas between Florida and Michigan leading to Michigan's adoption of a similar railing design soon after.
