This bridge is a seven panel pin-connected Pratt through truss. All but the deck stringers have been rendered non-structural / decorative by the addition of lead-bearing wooden bents under each floorbeam. For a railroad bridge, this truss has extremely lightweight members. This suggests that the bridge may be a very old example of a railroad bridge built earlier than the vast majority of surviving old railroad bridges. Otherwise, the bridge is for the most part traditionally composed. Aside from the addition of wooden bents, the bridge appears to retain excellent historic integrity. The bridge should be considered historically significant as an unusual and likely very old example of a railroad truss bridge, located in a state which has a relatively small number of surviving metal truss bridges.
This line is still used by collectors and owners of retired railroad track speeders and maintenance of way motor cars.
The bridge is just downstream from and within sight of the Hogback Bend Bridge.
