This truly unique and beautiful bridge could be described as a truss with a lattice (or multiple intersection Warren) truss configuration or simply as a "lattice girder". Generally bridges with a very tight lattice design (a lot of intersections) for their depth are listed as girders rather than trusses. Those bridges that best qualify as "lattice girders" are much more common in Europe rather than the United States, where they are exceedingly rare. Therefore, it seems appropriate to describe this bridge as having a strongly European design. For these reasons, this attractive footbridge in Geneva is assigned a high level of historic value by HistoricBridges.org. The use of a smoothly curved top chord only makes the bridge more rare in its design. This bridge appears to remain in good condition and its historic integrity is excellent with no major alterations to its design and materials noted. The bridge sits on concrete piers and abutments. The bridge is a beautiful part of the park area in which it is located and the bridge deserves to be preserved for its own sake as a historic structure as well as for the beauty the bridge lends to its setting.
Despite its obscure design, the bridge may not be as old as it may be tempting to think; the unusual design was more likely a function of trying to design an attractive park bridge rather than following the common engineering technology of the time it was built.
