This bridge is one of two similar but different bridges that carry a railroad line over the Fox River via Hurds Island. This is the larger of the two bridges with three spans instead of two. Unlike its smaller brother, this bridge is also skewed. Skewed arch bridges are somewhat uncommon and represent a more complex engineering achievement.

My Grandfather Hughie Franklin Edwards is second from the left in the front row and his brother Herman Elmer Edwards is sitting next to him (3rd from the left front row). My Grandfather, grandmother, mother and her sister lived at 396 S. River Street, Aurora, Kane County, IL at the time this photograph was taken according to the 1920 Federal Census. My Grand-Uncle Herman was enumerated with my Great-Grandparents in Cypress, Johnson County, IL, at the time.
