This bridge was built in 1895. A concrete abutment wingwall at one end has a 1933 engraved in it suggesting the abutment was redone at this time.
This bridge is a four panel pin connected half-hip Pratt pony truss. Typical of Iroquois County's truss bridges, the structure is traditional and not groundbreaking in design for its age. Rather, this unaltered truss earns significance from its remarkable historic integrity, including original channel railings and a wooden deck that is representative of the original deck design.
This bridge was open to traffic in 2006. As of 2013, it is reported as closed to traffic. Based on trends elsewhere in the county, which once was rich with bridges like this but is not today, this bridge is likely now at risk for demolition and replacement with an expensive, extremely ugly two-lane bridge that will be lucky if it ever sees two cars on it at the same time, given that the Average Daily Traffic for this road is a mere 25. It is likely too much to hope for that the county would instead pursue the less expensive alternative of rehabilitating and preserving this historic bridge for continued vehicular use.
