This bridge is an outstanding example of an early 20th Century concrete arch bridge built for a rural location. Typical of bridges from this period in rural locations, the bridge has a narrow one-lane configuration and simple concrete railings with rectangle outlines cast into the solid concrete parapet style railings. Bridges of this design and general appearance were often marketed and built by companies authorized to build Daniel Luten's patented concrete arch bridges. While not proven, this bridge may be associated with Luten. One unusual feature of this bridge's design is that the spring line is not flat. The spring line of the arch is significantly higher at the pier than at the abutments, giving the bridge a noteworthy design and distinctive appearance. The bridge has outstanding historic integrity and minimal concrete spalling. It stands out among Indiana's concrete arch bridges as a significant, old, and unaltered example of its type. It should receive a high level of preservation priority.
For unknown reasons, this bridge was not evaluated in the DHPA Historic Bridge Survey. The bridge is listed in the National Bridge Inventory as eligible for the National Register of Historic Places.
