This is a late but unaltered example of state design concrete arch bridge, located on a curve. The design of this standard bridge called for railings that flared and curved out at the ends, but this bridge was also built on a curve in the road, and so the bridge itself is curved slightly. This results in the outer railing having a notable "S" shape to it.
Information and Findings From DHPA Historic Bridge SurveyStatement of Significance In the spring of 1940, the State Highway Commission advertised the June letting of a slightly-skewed, 65-foot, concrete arch on concrete pile bents to be erected over Paint Creek. George R. Harvey of Danville, Indiana, secured the state contract in June for $18,957.63.
