This bridge is a traditionally composed example of its type. The bridge appears to retain good historic integrity. The bridge appears to be in decent condition, but it does lack paint and part of a fixed bearing appears to be encased in concrete. Now would be a great time to begin planning for a comprehensive restoration of this bridge.
Information and Findings From DHPA Historic Bridge SurveyStatement of Significance The prolific Hoosier firm used a conventional pattern for these pinned trusses. The bridge retains its original members, including latticed guardrails. Architectural Description The Indiana Bridge Company of Muncie fabricated this pin-connected Pratt through span which is seated upon cut stone abutments and wingwalls. Intermediate verticals of a pair of laced channels subdivide the 124' structure into most of its eight panels. A pair of die-forged eyebars provides each set of diagonals, and single, cylindrical rods with turnbuckles counter the diagonals in the two most central panels. U-bolted to the lower pins, I floor beams carry the timber deck with its 15'6" roadway and 21'5" of vertical clearance. Bridge Considered Historic By Survey: Yes
