This uncommon rural open spandrel variation of a Luten arch bridge was bypassed and preserved in place. Although the actual bridge was beautifully preserved, the approaches leading to the bridge have become a bit overgrown. It is not known what frequency if any the approaches are mowed and trimmed.
Information and Findings From Indiana Historic Bridge InventoryNotes SPANS noted interest in this bridge; Putnam brochure; Identified as potentially associated with the National Road for its location along this historical route, as per Joseph Jarzen, Executive Director, Indiana National Road Association (1/24/08 e-mail). Not within period of active use; INDOT indicated this bridge was part of a Transportation Enhancement project, as such it is considered to have a preservation commitment Transportation Enhancement Program project Des.
