This is an abandoned plate girder that seems out of place today in this open, rural location surrounded by only farmland. The bridge no longer has a deck, but everything else remains and is in good condition. Without a deck, the bridge is a great way to easily see the parts that make up a girder bridge. While plate girders are a relatively simple bridge type, the bridge makes extensive use of riveted, built-up members, from the girders, to the floorbeams, and this creates a visual complexity to the bridge. The railroad line this bridge served was abandoned in 1977.
