This five panel pony truss bridge is historically and technologically significant as an unusual yet historically intact example of its kind. The bridge is unusual because it has surprisingly large floorbeams bolted directly to the vertical members above the bottom chord, which is very unlike most bridges of this type. The built-up vertical members themselves are unusual as well, with a lightweight design that uses battens instead of the more common lattice or v-lacing that was more common to find on vertical members. With the exception of the built-up i-beam floorbeams which are quite massive on this bridge, the remainder of the structure is surprisingly lightweight.
The construction date is unknown for this bridge. National Bridge Inventory listed a 1949 date which is obviously incorrect. 1949 may refer to a relocation or repair project on the bridge, or it may simply be data entry error. The unusual details of the bridge make dating it precisely somewhat difficult, however it seems most likely that it was built between 1890 and 1910.
