This bridge is barely a bedstead truss, meaning that instead of having vertical endposts that extend far below the bottom chord to largely eliminate the need for full-height abutments, this bridge has vertical end posts that extend only a small distance below the bottom chord. However, it still follows the basic bedstead concept in terms of its design. Further, it currently rests on steel bents that are modern and not original. When HAER documented the bridge it rested on concrete abutments of unknown history, but based on the limited photos HAER took, it looked like the legs might have extended down alongside or within the concrete. There is a good possibility that originally the legs extended further down from what is seen today and were cut off. The history of the bridge is not well documented.
The bridge is also noted for its unusual portal bracing design that includes decorative finials as well.
This bridge has been bypassed and abandoned. As of 2016 is is rapidly becoming overgrown. Trees need to be cut down around the bridge to protect the bridge and clear viewing of it.
