This bridge sits in its original location, but with other nearby bridges serving the needs of vehicular traffic, this bridge has been closed to vehicular traffic and preserved in place for non-motorized traffic. The first bridge at this location was built 1839. It was burned during the Civil War in 1862 by Confederate Soldiers. A second bridge was built in 1864. The truss bridge seen today was built in 1915. It rests on a main span pier from the 1839 bridge however. The other pier is concrete and likely dates to 1915. The concrete pier may hide portions of the original pier inside, this is unclear. This attractive pin-connected Pratt truss span is appreciated by the community making this a local landmark. The bridge also has one rivet-connected Warren pony truss approach span, offering a nice comparison between truss bridge types. The bridge appears to be a quite popular local attraction. Many people were using this bridge as a backdrop for photography during the field visit
