Bridge Status: Demolished and replaced by Kentucky Transportation Cabinet November 30, 2023!
This bridge is noted for its large 500 foot truss span. Such a large span resulted in a truss that is of impressive depth, rising far above the roadway creating a dramatic appearance. The fact that the approach spans are all deck plate girders which hide their superstructure under the deck add to the impressive appearance of the through truss span which stands out on its own. The bridge was designed by noted engineering firm Modjeski and Masters. This is a bridge that could and should be rehabilitated and preserved, however like so many historic truss bridges, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to demolish and replace the bridge.
