Kentucky's collection of large simple span truss bridges of which this bridge is an example is rapidly shrinking due to demolition. This bridge is no exception is it is slated for demolition. It is unfortunate, as bridges like this can be rehabilitated. Instead, this beautiful truss bridge will be reduced to scrap metal and an ugly slab of concrete will take its place. This bridge is noted for its variety of spans. From west to east it includes a concrete t-beam span, a 12 panel Parker through truss, a 7 panel Parker through truss, four 8 panel Warren deck truss spans, and finally a series of concrete t-beam spans. The contractor for the substructure of this bridge was Koss Construction Company. The bridge was designed by the State Highway Commission.
