Little is known about this bridge, but online sources claimed an 1871 construction date for this bridge. It was later discovered that a covered bridge previous existed here and this bridge was built in 1881. This bridge is noteworthy as an uncommon example of a pin-connected Whipple truss. The bridge originally had a cantilevered sidewalk, and although the railings and floor beam to support a sidewalk remains, the deck has been removed. The bridge today is open only to pedestrians, who today utilize the roadway deck portion of the bridge.
This bridge has square shaped pin nuts, a highly unusual detail.
The bridge was substantially flooded in 2010 as the below photo from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet shows, but apparently survived without damage.
