This bridge is a very early example of a polygonal Warren truss bridges. Most polygonal Warren truss bridges date to after 1920. The bridge was constructed in 1908 by the American Bridge Company. The bridge has a very narrow roadway. The bridge is closed to vehicular traffic, but pedestrians are allowed on the bridge. The bridge's trusses and its wooden deck both remain in good condition. The bridge's top chord and end post, composed of paired angles and cover plate forming a built-up channel, are unusual since typically a these truss parts would have a more massive form of beam. The bridge retains excellent historic integrity. The bridge is off-system and not listed on the National Bridge Inventory. Unless there are other hidden off-system bridges like this in Waldo County, this is the only remaining highway truss bridge in the entire county. It also would be the oldest highway bridge in the county, since the oldest highway bridge on the National Bridge Inventory is dated to 1921.
