A lot of Maine's relatively small population of surviving metal truss bridges date to around 1937-1939, because many bridges were destroyed in a 1936 flood and subsequently rebuilt. This bridge, dating to 1937, may be one such example. It is a traditionally composed example of its type, however it uses the Pratt truss configuration. Most of Maine's 1930s-1950s truss bridges use the Warren truss. This bridge carries a large volume of traffic including large trucks. However structurally it remains in decent condition. If it becomes functionally insufficient for the volume of traffic it serves, it would be a great candidate to relocate, restore, and reuse on a lower volume road.
