Bridge Documentation

One of the more unique adaptive reuse projects for a historic bridge, this rare lenticular truss bridge has been restored and reused as a ramp access for a church that itself was converted for other uses. This bridge is a great example of why historic metal truss bridges should never be demolished, even if they are just put into storage, eventually some sort of reuse that preserves the bridge may present itself. This bridge had been in storage since 1999, and was not reused until 2019, indicating that patience can be rewarded when a bridge is in storage, suggesting the 10 year storage limits some states place on historic bridges should be lengthened. In its new use, the bridge does not retain its original floorbeams, but the trusses themselves retain all the distinguishing features that make it historically significant.

The previous bridge location was 42.18786, -73.41319: over Green River on Pumpkin Hollow Road in Great Barrington.
