Railroad overpasses in Detroit fall into three categories. In the 1930s on major road, many architectural details were added to bridges built making them stand out. The majority of remaining grade separations in the city generall fall into two categories: deck/through plate girder overpasses, and concrete paneled overpasses (the concrete may encase steel beams or girders). The two final groups are the most populous in Detroit. These two bridges are traditional representative examples of the through plate girder variety. They are not identical, with some differences in design details of the girders and the steel bents.
