This bridge is an old example of a rigid-frame bridge. It was built at the same time as the nearby bridge over Hines Drive. Both bridges are the same structure type and have the same architectural details. This bridge retains plaques, but its original railings have been replaced. Otherwise, it retains good historic integrity.
This bridge was formally found eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places by Michigan Department of Transportation during a 2007 update of the Historic Bridge Inventory.
