The City of Flint has chosen to demolish all of its arch bridges that had found eligible for the National Register of Historic Places, and as such, only the ones that were not found eligible remain. With the eligible bridges gone, the time has come to review the remaining Flint bridges which were found not eligible. This MDOT-owned trunkline bridge is a good example of a bridge previously found not eligible. It is today the largest example of an arch bridge in Flint. However, the structure has been altered when it was widened and its railings replaced. As such, even with the other historic Flint arch bridges demolished, this bridge can only be assigned a limited level of significance. However it does remain a more attractive structure than a new bridge would be, and it does offer a glimpse at the design and appearance of an earth-filled concrete arch bridge.
