This beautiful bridge with excellent historic integrity is the only vehicular entrance into historic Elizabeth Park. A very wide structure, this bridge retains original railings with decorative posts at the ends. A commemorative park plaque is mounted on the bridge. The bridge is historically significant as a historically intact representative example of a traditional closed spandrel arch bridge, as well as the entrance into a significant and historic area park. It compliments the three historic concrete pedestrian arch bridges in Elizabeth Park very well, with its arch shape. At the same time, it also contrasts with those bridges, with its much more substantial superstructure, clearly contrasting the difference between vehicular and pedestrian bridges. The Michigan Historic Bridge Inventory listed this bridge as eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places.
