This railroad overpass bridge, one of three in this area, was built as part of one of Michigan's earliest freeways. The three bridges are not identical and offer an interesting comparison to how different railroad crossings had slightly different design bridges. Number of tracks and possibly requirements from the railroad company, may have influenced individual bridge design. This bridge consists of a steel stringer/multi-beam layout consisting of heavy riveted beams, and was designed for three sets of tracks. This bridge is the only one of the three still in use.
