This bridge is a good representative example of a curved t-beam overpass on I-96. The bridge has a slight skew, and retains original railings with Armco guardrails added to the bridge.
I-96, I-75, and I-94 are all noted for having surviving curved t-beam overpasses that retain original railings. What is interesting is the abutment wall design for the t-beam overpasses on these three freeways are each different. On I-96, the abutment walls have a stepped design. On I-94, the abutment walls simply have an offset railing panel that is the same as those on the bridge itself. On I-75, the abutment walls have an elegant, curved abutment wall design.
