This is a small bridge, but is noteworthy because it is a relatively old concrete bridge in Michigan, also with unusual design. The beams are one unusual detail. The beams are designed to carry the weight of the section of deck they serve; there is one large beam on the outermost parts of the bridge holding the weight of the sidewalks, which also has a distinctive shape that makes the bridge look like a modern concrete box/culvert bridge. Additional parallel beams, less deep but more closely spaced and without the culvert-like shape, are present under the vehicular section. In addition, the railings on the bridge are a style not familiar to Michigan's roadways. Their design is more like some of the standard railings seen in West Virginia or Pennsylvania.
The bridge may not have much of a future. Their appears to be deterioration to the south sidewalk, and the sidewalk has sunk as a result, and is fenced off and closed. The railings have also deteriorated severely.
