This bridge was built in 1927, making it one of the latest surviving examples of a concrete camelback bridge in Michigan. Most examples date from 1922-1928. This is one of the least deteriorated and unaltered examples of its type in Michigan. Because rehabilitating deteriorated concrete is difficult, the good condition of this bridge makes it one of the best candidates for long-term preservation. Efforts should be taken now to ensure that the girders retain their characteristics of nearly no spalling or efflorescence (forms of deterioration) on the concretee.
