Concrete arch railroad bridges are very rare in Michigan, and are usually small in size. As a result, this four span bridge is a rare and large example of its type in Michigan. The bridge is attractively designed, with an arch rib visually defined both by the slightly inset spandrel walls, and also the varying concrete texture between rib and spandrel wall. The arch rib also has grooves in it that appear to be designed to suggest stone blocks like might be found on a stone arch bridge.
The bridge, located on an active railroad line, is located in Oakwoods Metropark, which makes it easy for the public to view, at least in the winter when the leaves are off the trees that surround the bridge.
