This is one of two small bascule railroad bridges in the city which no longer open and have had all mechanics removed. Please visit the other bridge page for a detailed narrative and historical photos and an article. It is assumed both bridges were built at the same time and by the same builder. This bridge, in contrast with the other one to the west, has nothing of the bascule equipment suriving, whereas the other bridge has a couple gears still in the bascule pit.
