Lansing has hardly any historic bridges left, having demolished or severely altered them. This bridge however retains good historic integrity. It features concrete-encased steel stringers for a superstructure. The steel stringers are not covered on the bottom, and so are visible there. On the outermost part of the bridge's superstructure features concrete with inset rectangles for architectural expression. Metal pole railings are present on the bridge. A large bronze plaque is located on the east abutment.
Near this bridge, the railroad crosses the Red Cedar River on an old plate girder bridge. While not noteworthy enough for its own page, a few photos of this bridge are in the gallery as well.
