Crossing on Riskey Road here is, as its name might seem to imply, risky business. This bridge's deck is in serious condition, and is actually missing along the edges of the bridge. The steel stringers, railings, and abutments however are all in decent condition.
Lattice guardrail stringer bridges are generally a rare find on a statewide scale, but in Huron County they appear frequently, both on public roads, and also as private drives, all crossing the numerous small creeks and large drains that are present in the county. Representing all of these bridges on the website would have been redundant and time-consuming. As a result, a few of the public road examples of these bridges were selected for website inclusion to represent this unusually large group of bridges in Huron County as a whole.
Shortly after this bridge was photographed it was demolished and replaced. This is perhaps an unsurprising outcome, however it would have likely been cheaper and easier to simply replace the deck.
This historic bridge has been demolished. This map is shown for reference purposes only.
