The girders on this bridge, which double as railings, show some of the worst spalling ever seen on this type of bridge in Michigan. Modern railings added to the inside of these girders further detract from the aesthetic value of the bridge. However, if the 1916 date given by the national bridge inventory can be believed, this is one of the oldest concrete girder bridges in Michigan, and is thus historically significant. The southern girder (pictured above) is in worse condition than the northern girder.
