This bridge is one of five historic metal truss bridges that were saved from demolition when the Sweetgrass Golf Club acquired these former highway bridges and moved them onto the Sweetgrass Golf Course, where they are both functional and beautiful parts of the large golf course. The bridge is located in the southeast corner of the course near Hole 6.
This is a good example of a small-scale riveted Warren pony truss bridge. Little riveted truss bridges like this were built frequently in Michigan, a state with many small creeks and streams that are well suited to a small bridge like this. Many of these bridges that survive have not been preserved and are perhaps overlooked due to their small size. Fortunately, this bridge was not overlooked by the Sweetgrass Golf Club and this example of small-scale bridge construction has been saved from demolition.
This bridge is located on a golf course and is private property, open to golf course users only.
