This bridge is a large, high level continuous deck plate girder bridge. Although its deck and roadway is configured like a single surface, as is the substructure, the superstructures of the bridge are configured like two separate, parallel superstructures, each with their own two plate girders and a sets of floorbeams. This bridge is a late example of its type, and not very visually attractive, however it worth brief mention for its use of rivets and its size. Also worth mention are the two fantastic structures that were at this location previously. The first, built in 1880, was a high level deck truss, which was replaced in 1912 with a spandrel braced steel deck arch bridge.
