This is the oldest and most significant historic bridge in Mississippi, and its future is uncertain. The main spans of the bridge consist of one span from the original Mississippi River Railroad Bridge at Dubuque, Iowa (dating to 1868) and another span from an unknown location. The two spans were moved and installed here in 1895. The east span is 81.8 feet and the west span is 91.6 feet. The west span appears to be the span from the Dubuque bridge. The two spans are both Keystone column bridges of very similar design, however the overhead bracing differs between the two spans.
