Complimented by ornate decorations, this unique bridge design has the appearance of a combination of a truss bridge and a suspension bridge. Indeed the bridge is difficult to classify. It is unclear if it is best classified as a continuous truss, or as a braced suspension bridge. The bridge has cast iron towers at the pier points, and the ends of the bridge consist of vertical end posts which are anchored by rods that extend a short distance beyond the end of the bridge into the ground.
