This bridge is in a scenic location where the road takes a sharp bend over the creek. The sharp bend has led to a most unsusual custom-designed road sign to warn trucks being present on the road this bridge is on. It also led to a (very old) alteration on this bridge where a steel beam and concrete was added running from abutment wingwall to arch to slightly widen the bridge at the bend point and make it slightly easier to drive over.
Information and Findings From New Jersey's Historic Bridge InventoryDiscussion of Bridge The stone arch bridge is founded directly on bedrock. Four stone masonry wing walls extend from the arch. The bridge has been widened at the northwest and southeast corners, using rolled steel I-beams placed diagonally between the spandrel and wingwall. The additions have concrete decks. Repointing is evident, and repairs have been made to the parapets. The numerous alterations have compromised the original design integrity of the bridge. It is not technologically or historically noteworthy. Discussion of Surrounding Area The bridge is located in a quiet rural setting of sparse housing and open fields.
