This bridge is a stone faced concrete rigid-frame. The structure type is on a national basis quite rare, usually associated with very old limited access highways. Indeed, this is where they were built in New York City as well, but in such numbers that even today they are common in New York City, with many of the parkways in the city still retaining numerous examples. Despite how common they are, they are attractive, and substantial variety in design and visual appearance can be found throughout the city. This bridge is a good representative example of this structure type on the Belt Parkway which is noted for having less of the stone faced concrete rigid-frame bridges than other parkways in the city.
