Sitting in the shadow of the beautiful New Croton Dam is this truly unique solid plate arch bridge, together forming a unique historic setting. Steel arch bridges rarely are designed with solid girders (essentially a closed spandrel steel arch bridge) as is seen with this bridge. The bridge has a very shallow arch, and the roadway is cambered with the arch as well.
The National Bridge Inventory lists a 1940 construction date, however the bridge appears to be shown in historical photos from 1906 suggesting the bridge is much older.
